Melissa runs Misoda Glass Studio with her husband, Andy, in West Seattle. During her days she teaches glassblowing at Sammamish High School in Bellevue, Wa. She absolutely loves that she is able to pass this amazing art form onto younger generations! “It is so important to give kids skill-based art options, especially for those who do not feel like they are ‘good at art’. It helps build self-confidence, team working and communication skills, and critical problem solving!”
Melissa received her BFA from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, and her MFA from Alfred University in New York. She has shown her work in galleries and museums across the nation and has been published in several publications. Please see her resume for more in depth information!
About her work:
My ‘Earthscape’ series was created out of response to quarantine. Longing to get out and experience what is often taken for granted - from mountains to beaches to fields of flowers - these vessels are designed to brighten and bring all the colors of the world into your home.
My ‘Organic Color Fade’ Vessels truly capture the liquid nature of molten glass! They are a fantastic blend of transparent colors and surface texture. The technique used to create these produces wonderfully organic shapes, bubbles, and textures on the surface that can not be reproduced! They are truly one of a kind!
